Although, Taxotere has been found to perform better than other forms of medications in the treatment of breast cancer it has also been found to cause severe side effects which include alopecia or permanent hair loss. Normal cells stop dividing when near similar cells while cancer cells get damaged thus lose the ability to multiply or divide. Taxotere also attacks cancer cells RNA or DNA to prevent any developed tumour from duplicating and spreading

It is common to see individuals undergoing chemotherapy treatment lose their hair. However, this condition usually reverts within six months up to a year whereby the patients’ hair grows again. Hair loss after chemotherapy treatment is classified as one of the most distressing side effects especially among women. According to research loss of hair has a direct impact on those undergoing this form of treatment as it makes someone lose self-confidence and self-esteem.
